Assistant Director of Youth Ministry (full-time)

Job Title:  Assistant Director of Youth Ministry

Reports To:  Director of Youth Ministry

Description:  Serves the ministry of FPCOS by supporting the Director of Youth Ministry, and by leading middle and high school girls to encourage their spiritual growth through one-on-one and small group discipleship connections, as well as participation in youth activities.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience is required, and at least two years of youth ministry experience is preferred.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attends and participates in weekly staff meetings and youth ministry planning times
  • Faithfully participates in the life of FPCOS
  • Is present and active in weekly youth programs on Sunday and Wednesday nights
  • Supports the Director of Youth Ministry in large group meetings, service projects, trips and events, including weekend retreats and summer conferences
  • Meets individually or in groups with students at least 2-3 times per week outside of church activities, including lunches, coffees, sporting events, student plays, school lunches, etc.
  • Holds office hours from 9 AM – 4 PM twice a week
  • Facilitates effective communication to students, parents and volunteers
  • Shares youth ministry plans through social media
  • Assists in planning annual youth ministry calendar
  • Reads assigned books as part of vocational development
  • Prays regularly for young people in the church and community
  • Promotes the connection of students to the larger body of Christ at FPCOS

Children's Ministry Assistant (part-time)

Job Title:  Children’s Ministry Assistant

Reports To:  Director of Children’s Ministry

Position Status and Compensation:  Part-time staff member, weekly pay, 20 hours/week

Job Description:  Works with the Children’s Ministry Director to ensure the ministry is fulfilling its mission to make disciples of the children in our church, by helping with administrative tasks, event planning, volunteer recruitment and training, and overall program growth and development.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Meets weekly with the Children’s Ministry Director
  • Attends and participates in bi-monthly CMAT (Children’s Ministry Action Team) meetings
  • Alongside the Children’s Ministry Director, helps to screen and manage curriculum for Faith Foundations, Rooted and VBS
  • Oversees recruitment, training, management and encouragement of teachers and volunteers for special events and programming. Regular program trainings should be held 1-2 times annual for each program and volunteer background checks should be checked regularly to ensure they have not expired
  • Assists the Children’s Ministry Director in overseeing the implementation and administration of VBS in cooperation with CMAT
  • Makes necessary purchases of supplies for various Children’s Ministry programs within the budget
  • Manages mass communication with parents including all outgoing mailers and reminders via text and e-mail
  • Manages social media presence by posting reminders, updates, needs, prayers and highlights from special events and programs
  • Participates in committee and staff meetings as appropriate

Job Specific Expectations:

  • The Children’s Ministry Assistant will work closely with and report directly to the Children’s Ministry Director to ensure continuity
  • The Children’s Ministry Assistant will participate faithfully in the life of FPCOS


  • Faithful disciple of Jesus Christ who strives to educate children “to know Christ and to make Christ known together”
  • Must demonstrate love and concern for children and parents manifesting the love of Jesus in them
  • Has an understanding of and commitment to the Reformed tradition as expressed in the Essentials of Our Faith (from the EPC)
  • Possess excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with parents, children, other staff members, and volunteers
  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills
  • Experience working with children and supervising staff/volunteers
